Enabaerodde, again...

So, there will be little if any posting this week as we are off and away from the house for the "Potato Week" holidays.  I believe they have this in Northern Maine still, but perhaps not anywhere else.  Anyhow, when in Denmark...

This will be a brief post, but I did want to pass along some pictures of Enabaerodde.  You may remember our family trip there in August.  Well, with favorable winds I decided to make it all the way around to the mouth of the Odense Fjord.  A very nice trip, with beautiful scenery.

Enjoy.

Hi Matt!! I just read through a lot of your blog. It's really funny to hear all this from your perspective... Descended from the Vikings, huh? I looked through all your photos to see if you've snapped a pic of one of my relative's houses... but no luck. I guess DK is not that small. My aunt Mikkel lives in Millinge (she's the closest) and I have aunt/uncles near Aarhus, on Taasinge, and around the Flensburg Fjord. My cousins are everywhere.

If you're back in the southern part of Jutland, my aunt Plys has guestrooms and a camping place. I'm not sure if they are open in the winter tho. The name of her place is Kloften. There used to be a little booklet of farms that would let bicyclists camp on their land (or stay in a room)- not sure if that's still floating around. Plys is in there, but if you're interested I can send the number. She lives 5 min from where my mom grew up.

I'm surprised you didn't like Legoland so much. Maybe your kids are getting too old for it. We've always loved how low-key it is (rather than all the "exciting" rides). It's more on the sweet side than the exciting side.

BTW I think the yellow plant may be rapeseed (used for biodiesel), though it seems quite late for it to be blooming.

Well that's all for now. It will be fun to debrief when you get back.
Love,
Sarah

Hey Sarah,

Thanks for the note. I have been near Millenge I think, but am not sure. I do not have my maps at the moments, so I cannot tell for sure. It is great to have the info on your relatives though. Thanks.

Descended from Vikings - sure. But this is a fact, and also firmly toungue in cheek. Speaking of vikings, we are up on Gotland now, and these vikings surely got around. Trading with people from Tashkent? That is surely a trek!

Yeah, Legoland was a little too slow for our kids. They like the high sped excitement of "you are gonna die" rides. Like parents like kids... Plus, we actually found Tivoli to be less commercial. I think the difference between August and September was a contributing factor there. At any rate, we are having a great time, and will cherish this trip forever.

We do look forward to a long debriefing when we return. I hope you all are well, and having a good fall.

Hi to all.
